Hi thestartupguy!

We recently wrote a post on the EssaySnark blahg that's related to your question: https://www.essaysnark.com/2012/07/the-a ... e-matters/

We would not call a 5.0 a "VERY" good score - it's an acceptable score.

A 6.0 is a good score -- obviously, right? If it's the top score we'd have to say it's good. :-) The thing is, the AWA is the least important part of the whole test, so having a "good" score versus an "acceptable" score doesn't actually impact outcomes.

Even having a < 5.0 score is unlikely to be a dealbreaker - though we call out situations in that post where we start to get concerned.

Hope this helps!!!

Anything above a 4.0 is usually sufficient, and as essaysnark says, it is the least important score you receive on the GMAT.
