Hi, I've been perplexing on the following 2 questions and hope that someone can help me figure them out.
1. do I aim too high to apply to those top school? (my list is: MIT, Wharton, Tuck, Kellogg, and maybe LBS...)
2. Is there any program with some emphasis(or major) on Insurance industry?
Here is my profile.
Female/27/Taiwanese/Ugrad major: finance
GMAT: 720, Q50, V36/GPA:3.8
WK: 1 yr as a finance trainee in shipping industry (job funtion: finance/customer service)
4 yr as a management trainee to duputy manager (job function: project management covering from process-reengineering, design of operation model, organization restructuring, to overseas biz development etc.)
Career goal: to work as a strategic project manager in insurance industry (or as a consultant but specialized in insurance industry.)
Others:
1.I have some international experiences by training abroad in both companies and doing assignment with multinational trainees.
2.My latest project, the organization restructuring one, helped company to win the Distinguished Insurance Professionalism Award for Life insurance company in 2011 in Taiwan.
3.volunteer work/ran seminars for students in school time. Organized a few charity activities during work period/ passionate at traveling(spent most of my leisure time on traveling)
concerns of my profile:
1.I've never really supervised anyone even though I've leaded many projects so does project teams...
2.project manager, not specialized in IT, is not a typical role in insurance industry. Besides, insurance industry in not popular for MBA students. I'm wonder how to find a better-fit school and am afraid that I can't get much resource from MBA school.
3.heard that work in strategy dept especially in US company is not easy for a foreigner (?!)
4.extracurricular activities are done on occassional basis.
Thanks for your time in reading and reply my question!
