PLEASE evaluate my profile

by chocolate » Mon Dec 20, 2010 6:43 am
Hi,
My profile is as follows :

GMAT : 680 (Q47, V37)
awa : 5
GPA : 3.8
Nationality : Indian(Female)

I am planning to apply next year, by which time I will have 2.5 yrs exp(3.5 on joining B school).
I have excellent acads right from my early school days.I topped my school in mathematics with a perfect score(100/100) and was also the school captain. During my undergradutaion, I was the president and secretary of several clubs and also organised a nation wide symposium for charity. On graduating, I received the silver medal for outstanding acads( second in the university).
( I have always been the youngest in my class , but always among the top 5)
I have been involved with an NGO right since its inception as the president(youth wing).
I pursued my undergraduation in computer engineering and worked for one of the topmost MNC in the country for 8months,during which I was a part of their leadership institute. However, I always preferred management and shifted my career towards it. I received an offer from one of the top corporate hospitals in the country and joined them as Executive,Operations(Online &User). This post is usually offered to people with more than 3 years work ex. However, considering my ability to adapt , I was offered the position.Health care management is very challenging and I am gaining a lot of experience and knowledge.

Kindly evaluate my profile and let me know which schools I have a good chance.I am looking at Stern,Sloan,Columbia,ISB.

Strengths
- Undergraduate Grades
- Undergraduate Extracurricular
- Female
- Career trajectory (seems progressive)

Neither here or there
- GMAT (you're in the middle 80% band)

Weakness
- Professional Background (i wasn't completely sure about this but are you still in IT at the hospitals or are you in actual operations as in day to day running of the hospitals? If the latter, put this as a strength)
- Nationality (i don't know if an Indian male is different from an Indian female in the eyes of the adcom)

You have time to apply to all four given you're applying in 2011. So just apply to all four. Half the battle is actually how you tell your story's in the essays. It's just too hard to assess people based on their 'profile'.

Hi,
I am in the actual operations, i.e the day to day management. And being an executive, I work with the V.P of Operations.
Could you suggest which schools I am more likely to get an admit.
Thanks.

x Chance (where x is a number between 0 and 100)
- Sloan, Columbia

Higher Chance ( = x + y, where y is a positive value, where x+y < 100)
- ISB, Stern

Just apply to all four. It's not like it's that many.

Also, this is a pretty unrelated list of schools - you might also want to get your story straight about why you need an MBA...
