Hello,

I have a very generic profile but am vying for top B schools ( still deciding between part time and full time).

Male : 32
Nationality : American
Ethinicity : Indian
GMAT : 670
Work Exp : 8+ years in IT Industry ( Currently a Solution Architect )

As far as my extra cirricular's go.. I have NOT done much voluntary work or spent time doing anything out of my field.

However,

I do own my consulting business provinding to local clients
I am a Certified Personal Trainer

1. Am I too old for the school to consider me as an applicant ?
2. Would I need to be doing more extra cirricular's to boost my profile ?
3. If I am planning to start MBA in 2011, do you think its a good idea to retake GMAT ?

Thanks,

These schools are decent if you plan to apply for part-time program. However, if you do plan to apply full-time then the question will arise like 1) Who will run your consulting firm? 2) How do you plan to balance off full-time MBA with part time?
Again, if you do plan to go full-time GMAT scores will be in question. You may need to sit again in that case.

Running a business and going for a full-time MBA can make your case doubtful. However, you'll be easily able to run consulting and do part-time MBA.

That said, I don't think you really need to take GMAT again if you plan to go part-time. Either ways, you've got some solid number of years under your belt with good experience. As long as you have well written essays, solid resume and stellar recommendations - you're all set. You're fine on the age front right now.

It will be nice if you can contribute to the community between now and fall 2011. Activities are icing on the cake - they aren't a requirement.

Hope this helps.
