Profile evaluation please

by sidelinesk » Mon Apr 29, 2013 1:10 am
hi,

Gave my GMAT today and got 690 (Q50,V32). I am pretty sure that my essay and IR were great.

Basically, i am an Indian professional with 1.7 yrs experience in a London based MNC. I have quit my job to work as teacher with Teach For India(Sister organisation of teach For America). It is a 2 year fellowship starting May, 2013. I would like to apply in top colleges for Social Entrepreneurship.
I have done Electronics and Communication Engineering from VTU (karnataka, India) with 3.2 CGPA

Achievements :
Participated in various science project exhibitions at school level (selected for Intel National science exhibition)
Tabla (Indian classical musical instrument) player (performed at various competitions)
Part of College Dance team

Impressive work at my ex-company, can get very good recommendations
was part of the project which marked the initiation for complete makeover of a 15 yr old product.
Was the youngest member in the team.
Got great increments (had to mention this as awards are very rare in my ex-company)

I am planning to learn a language, either french or Spanish.

Please let me know about my chances in top colleges like Harvard, Stern, Columbia business school, Wharton, INSEAD, ISB (India).

Will i have to give my GMAt again? (i believe i can reach 750)
Also, how else can i strengthen my profile.
I am planning to apply for fall of 2015.

Thanks in advance.

Hi sidelinesk,

Thanks for posting. For your GMAT, if you believe you can improve your score by 60 points, I do recommend you take the exam again. Admissions teams will focus on your highest score on your application.

For your candidacy, your numbers indicate that you have the intellect and focus to thrive in a top tier MBA program. Nothing about your story makes me think there is any reason why you cannot be admitted, but nothing stands out telling me why you should be admitted. All of the reasons why a top program would admit you are in the details of your work experience, personal experiences, personality, values and overall story.

if you'd like, we have free school specific advice here:
