Hi! I will be applying for the MBA programs commencing in fall 2013. Here is my background.

Extra curricular:
- Served as a General Secretary at IIT Student's Gymkhana
- Founded an education non-profit.Led for a year at campus and associated for past 3 years in mentor role.Over 250 kids from rural background have benefited from classes by IIT students
- Served as the president of Counselling Cell. Started 2 new programs to open communication channels to students needing help.
- Served as the president of National Service Scheme at IIT. Led 300 IIT students in organizing blood donation camps, cloth donation drives and organizing competitions at a local Orphanage.
- Served as Cultural Secretary of a Hostel of 450 students.
- Won 1st Prize in inter hostel Dramatics ( 8 hostels )
- Won 1st Prize in inter hostel ad-mad ( 8 participant hostels )
- Organizer of a popular game show at Annual IIT Cultural Festival.
- Main Organizer, IITG Delhi Alumni Chapter.
Work Experience : 3 years.
- Web Startup 1 ( about 1.5 years). Delivered the application to FRB, San Francisco.
- Worked for 11 months at a Marketing company in Boston.
- Didn't enjoy my role in spite of good appreciation of my contributions and wanted to get back to my startup to make things happen.Moved back to India to work on a re-branded and re-engineered version of the original Startup. ( 8 months). Funding efforts have not worked out and we don't have a paying client yet.
Current Status: I have admission offer letters from top Indian B-schools like IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow.
Plan : I want to get my MBA from a top ranked US program and would appreciate feedback on my chances at good US programs. I have a week to let go of the seats in Indian MBA programs ( They do not offer deferred admission here) . It is a risk but something I am ready to take.
My list of schools : HBS, MIT Sloan, Stanford, Kellogg, Tuck, Haas, Darden, Yale
Why MBA : Career change. I want to move from IT to Management Consulting with a long term focus on entrepreneurship. Have learnt lessons from my startups but at an opportunity cost. Now I want to invest in my education.
I have lived in Boston and visited Harvard and MIT Sloan campuses. Just loved the energy and the diversity ! I look forward to thoughts/advice on my chances at target schools. If you believe other schools are better suited to my profile, please suggest. All help is highly appreciated.

but secondly also to apply to as many Top programs as you would like to go to, even ten schools if need be. Because you have great numbers, but come from a tough pool, so increase your chances! Plus you have plenty of time, so start researching the schools NOW if you can. And if you can even visit a bunch that you haven't yet seen before they let out for the semester it can be awesome as well.
