Illness during GMAT

by trinichick » Thu Dec 21, 2006 8:09 am
Hi Stacy,

I took the GMAT this week and scored a 620. Unfortunately I had a throat infection and was taking heavy medication which did not allow me to perform at my usual standard. There is no chance to retake the GMAT because it is held here only once a year.

I'm applying to Ross at Michigan; should I inform the admissions committee about my medical condition while taking the GMAT (in the optional essay)?

Please advise.

Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

Yes, I would definitely let them know that you were sick and on medication. Hopefully, you can point to other aspects of your candidacy that support your ability to excel academically. I usually do not recommend making apologies for a GMAT score, but this definitely seems to be an exception. Good luck.
