UCLA part time chances

by schrodinger » Thu Nov 01, 2007 9:37 am
Hi Stacy,
I am wondering if my chances for UCLA FEMBA can be evaluated. I work for a top semiconductor company, with 5 years of experience, have a Master's Degree in Engineering, GPA of 3.5 and 3.7 in Bachelors and Masters respectively, with Innovation and Leadership awards at work as well as some community work. My GMAT is low(610). I have already given it twice and dont plan on giving it again. I plan to apply in R2. Is it worth applying with this score. I know its the overall application particularly the Essays which play a major role but still it would be great if you can comment on my profile.

Thanks,
Alok

Hi Alok,

The quality of your work experience is going to be important to the UCLA fully employed program. Have you been promoted? Do you supervise others? Are you on a strong leadership track? What sorts of distinction have you received at work?

If you can demonstrate strong leadership skills and management potential I think you should still apply despite any GMAT issues. Did you improve your score the 2nd time? I wouldn't put all of your efforts towards the GMAT, but working on the score does show a certain amount of persistence towards your goals, which is a great quality.

Good luck!
