I feel you are competitive for ISB, but recommend you consult ISB's home page to determine average salary.

Coincidently, I was there earlier this year when a Bollywood film was being shot on campus as one of the students I believe was a producer.

Best of luck,

Apply now as you are already sufficiently competitive. Since I am advising you to apply now, you do not need to address weaknesses (e.g. building an alternate transcript) but focus on building the best application possible.

Good luck,

Hi anandy101,

I agree with Michael. There is no reasoning in waiting for another 3-4 years to apply to ISB. Your profile is strong right now and your interests and extra currics are directly relevant to your goals. You can put forth a solid story to reason an MBA and that will be your strengths and differentiate you from others from IT background.

Average work-ex at ISB is around 4-5 years which is also the mode. As Michael had pointed out, there was a film made at ISB this year by a student as a producer. He made a solid career in entertainment industry and many others fulfilled their dreams of joining entertainment industry after this stint. So things have really opened up in your favor.

Many media and entertainment companies recruit at ISB. Infact Mahesh Samat, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Walt Disney India and K Seshasayee, Director, Corporate Communications, Walt Disney India visited the Indian School of Business (ISB) recently. He manages all Disney businesses in India, except the ESPN/Star Sports joint venture, with all local business segments reporting into him.

Well right from the horse's mouth, a previous admit shared a few facts.

1. On an average about 4% of the ISB graduating class goes into the media & entertainment industry. Students from the class of 2009 who took up careers in the media industry received an average 3.2 times salary increase over what they were receiving prior to coming to ISB. For the Class of 2008, average salaries received by those who went into the media industry was Rs. 14,17,500.

2.Many of India's top media companies hire at ISB. These include Google, HT Media Ltd, Network 18, Star India Pvt Ltd., NDTV, Infoedge India Ltd, Rediff, Ernst & Young (Media Consulting) and 9.9 Mediaworx Pvt Ltd (Media Consulting). ISB alumni hold significant positions in these companies in roles ranging from strategy, business development, product management and marketing

Other initiatives of the media club are:

Media Industry Knowledge Sessions: Top industry leaders are invited through the year to provide their perspective on the media and entertainment industry
Media Treks: Helps students increase industry interaction through treks to leading media companies to understand how they work and meet their senior management
Resume reviews and guidance by alumni working in the media industry
Media Elective: A half credit course that comprises 5 classes taken by media industry experts, which provides a practical and theoretical framework for those interested in media careers

The Media and Entertainment Club comprises a group of students who are driven by the vision to build and establish ISB as a knowledge partner for the Media and Entertainment industry, and provide a platform for young leaders who possess a unique blend of creativity and business acumen.

I would recommend applying now. The point about Bollywood is that you might ask to speak with other students/alumni who have similar aspirations.
