MBA Admissions 2012 (GMAT Score=700)

by mann_s_love » Sun Oct 16, 2011 5:23 am
Hi Everyone,

I am a candidate from India and I have been working as a center Manager since last 2.5 years.I want to apply for an MBA in 2012.

GMAT Score: 700 (q 49, v 35)
AWA Score: 5.5
Colleges Seleceted:IESE, ISB, Stern,Said B school, and Brigham Young.
Graduation: BBA (Honors)
GPA: 2.8 out of 4 (not sure though because i have been the topper of my college)
Percentage:66.5%

I am targeting Top 20 colleges for MBA. I wish to apply in R2. I am a bit confused regarding consultancy services. I dont want to be late in applying. Can someone give me some guidelines as to how to proceed ahead after appearing for GMAT?

Your profile really good to fight for Top 20, apart from the work Ex. You need to choose your colleges well and pivot your profile on the impact areas which can be discovered through rigorous self diagnosis.

I am sure you have calculated the GPA wrongly. You will need to reach out to the admissions offices of your target schools and inquire as to how they would prefer you handle it in your application. don't assume and dont rely on any friend or blogger.

You can have a comprehensive profile evaluation done by our India Head. This is free. Just send a mail.

With your GMAT done, you have to make a shortlist of schools where you want to apply. This list will be made considering your goals & the competitiveness of your profile. You should apply across a range of schools. With respect to their own profile, most people pick some schools which are little tougher to get in, some where they stand a good chance & some where they are more or less (very) confident of securing admission. Broadly, the schools you have listed also follow this strategy.

After the list, go to various schools' websites & start the online application. Keep note of the deadlines, recommendations required, essays, other application material required, TOEFL if applicable etc.

If you want to start the program in 2012, definitely aim for R2, and for that definitely start right now.

Drop us a mail if you have any further queries. Good Luck!

Thank you very much throughmba and Rising Star.

Are the programs that i opted for appropriate or should i add a few colleges?
I am not really aware of the process now. It will be kind of you, if can detail the process from hereon.
Should i apply to colleges and then start writing SOPs and LORs or should i be prepared with all the documents and then apply for programs?
Finally, what purpose does sending GMAT score has? (eventually we have to fill up the detailed form from their websites)

I am looking forward to go for a consultant, who can help me in college selection and in other processes. Would you recommend me going for an Indian Consultant?

Thank you for responding to my post.

Of course I would recommend Indian consultants, since we are an Indian consulting firm :)

As said, your school choice would depend on your detailed profile evaluation, time in hand & goals.

The process is simple: Go to the school website. You will find links for admission requirements and/or Apply now. This will lead you to the online application where you need to register. The application, itself, can only be submitted once you complete your essays, CV & other requirements. The online application will also provide you instructions on how to proceed with LOR submission.

Even though you will fill in your GMAT score yourself in the online app, schools rely only on the official scores sent directly by the GMAC. (Or else everybody would fill in a perfect 800)

Lastly our name is not Rising star ;-), it is Color Me One. Drop us a mail from www.colormeone.com

Good Luck!

Hi

Do a comprehensive profile analysis first, or get it done.(we do it for free)

Based on the data extracted do a Positioning, messaging and Mapping analysis.

Now you are ready at the point where you will sift and select from your brainstorming, choosing and arranging the material you want to convey.

Now since you have chosen the colleges by now(choose 8), start preparing for the essays and recos and scholarships from the detailed self diagnostic document you have.

Sending GMAT scores is letting the colleges know about your scores. A painful part indeed.

Before going for any consultant, Indian or abroad, have a free consultation. We confirm to provide free BSchool selection service to you alongwith comprehensive profile evaluation. Drop me a mail or talk to our India Head +91 7873282250.

Thank you for your valuable information.
Just 1 more question.

Most colleges have a simple rule. You don't need to appear for English Proficiency Test if your medium of Graduation was English.

I hope that answers.

Let me make a slight correction. Very often its that English must be the ONLY language of teaching. And sometimes there is a requirement that it be the official language of the place where you are studying as well. But you need to check this policy on a school by school basis.
