I am an Mechanical Engineer from an IIT in India and have passed in the batch of 2012. I have a GMAT score of 710 and my undergraduate CGPA was 7.2/10(top 40 percentile). I currently have only 9 months of work-ex but I would have around 16 months while applying in the second round.

"¢ Spearheaded and organized meetings among all parties involved (architects, contractor MD's & execution team)
"¢ Responsible for taking the final call on designs and project details (layouts, interior details etc.)

I did a 2 month internship in a small manufacturing company where I made the following contributions-
"¢ Identified all the bottle neck operations and introduced supermarkets with appropriate inventory
"¢ Optimized the inventory batch size and logistics for transporting materials from supplier to production plant
"¢ Achieved an average reduction of 25% in inventory levels for 3 Pareto parts

Teaching Experience -
I have worked as a teacher and student counselor in an Indian coaching class for a period of 2 months .

Extra-Curricular:
1.I Captained and trained the university team to Gold position in weightlifting.

This is pretty much all my resume has ,please let me know what are my chances in these schools and if not which other schools should I try . I really want to join this fall.

I think you face some challenges for starting this fall, since you are deep into third round where the seats begin to fill up fast. At this point, you are competing against not only other latecomers like yourself, but also with everyone on the waitlist from the first two rounds. For this reason, you would need to be literally among the top applicants in the world. With an academic record in the top40% of your class, this would be a hard sell. What you may have working in your favor is your background in a non-feeder discipline. Construction management applicants typically do not have a 710 GMAT, so if your target schools feel the need to round out the diversity in thier class with someone other than "just another banker or accountant," then you could find some luck there. If I were you and I definitely wanted to matriculate this fall, I would target more programs outside the top 10 as a backup.

Thank you Mr Bryant,
If I apply for the first round next year . How strong would my profile be .
I want to switch to Investment banking or Strategic consulting .Should I right that in my essays or should I portray an image of a Project manager.

I think first round would be a better spot for you, but be careful about i-banking. Since your background would be considered atypical for i-banking, you may want to stick with consulting, perhaps even specifically RE consulting or something related to your field of experience. You can always pursue i-banking once you are admitted, but as for a solid case for admission, you should probably stick to your knitting, so to speak.
