Hello,
Can you please tell me if my profile would be suitable for admission to one of the top 10 US MBA schools. My details are below:
27, Indian, Male
Graduation in Biotechnology from Bangalore University received 76% (Don't know how to put it in 4.0 GPA) & Biochemistry university 2nd ranker with 98% marks.
PG diploma in management from a 2nd tier institute in India (considered equivalent to an MBA in India, top 20% rank)
GMAT - Yet to appear (on March 2013)
My career progression so far has been exceedingly rewarding. I started with an FMCG / OTC marketing Company (A venture Capitalist Run Firm) as a Media Planner in 2008 where my responsibility was to Plan & Purchase right media vehicles for the brand to flourish but in an optimized manner. There, I was responsible for a budget of 22 Mn USD annually. I added new features to my job & bravely associated one of company legendary brands to a Champion Cricketing Team "Rajasthan Royals" in IPL (It is an NFL or NBA equivalent of US). The company commended on my exceptional performance in deal breaking and media understanding & provided me with additional Responsibility & with a promotion to Assistant Brand Manager for 3 Brands.
It was a privilege for me as I was also helping the Accenture Consulting team India to identify & implement SAP SD & Media modules for better functioning. Company created a dual reporting structure for me for Marketing & media led activities I was reposting to General Manager & for SAP activities I was reporting to CEO.
In July 2010, I joined 3M India Limited as Brand Manager for a leading International consumer Brand , During my stint in 3M I had learned a systematic approach of driving innovation projects. I was championing the most important product for the Rural India using a six sigma DFSS methodology. For this project I have been awarded a green belt certification for the completing it in a record time of 9 Months. A patent was filed by the company on the shocking findings for a cheap & easy solution for the common man. Due to this accomplishment I was conformed two months before my due date & a good appraisal.
Currently I work for Piramal Healthcare Limited in India as a Brand Manager for again an international Brand for Headache in the OTC division. I am responsible for the development of the brand as well as creating line extensions for the new products. Besides, I also investigate the likelihood of executing certain projects and interact closely with the product management to decide features for some products for better Market estimation & to see a portfolio mix with the divisional strategy. I in addition have to interact with other external partners such as Advertising houses, Media & PR agencies, Legal & compliance team, finance, Supply Chain & most importantly Sales Team to ensure the that there are no bottlenecks in the entire system.

1. Received certificate of appreciation from IIM Ahmedabad (Dr Dilip Mavlankar - faculty IIM-A) for successful conduct of evaluation of Chiranjeevi Yojna in Panchmahal district.
2. Selected in the final 10 list of IIM Ahmedabad for essay on India's cheap labor with respect to global environment protocol
3. National Swimming Bronze medalist for 1500 Meter freestyle in 2001
4. Selected for National Physics Olympiad from Kolkata Zone. 1999

3. Launched 3 FMCG Products (end to end)

I am also involved with an NGO here in Mumbai (Dharavi) where I teach children English & Mathematics from Slumps. My extra-curricular during college were quite strong since I was the head representative of my students.
Can you please let me know whether my profile would be good enough to get admission in one of the top 10 US business schools?
The concern is I have taken a date for GMAT on 26th March 2013 (72 Days Left). I just started with my preparation. Have taken a GMAT prep 1 have received a score of 630. There is a lot to work upon. I needed your support to analyze my profile & guide me how to reach to the top. My preference is for one of the top Strategy & Marketing schools since I would like to continue my work in this field only.
I am looking for 2014 Admit. For which I want to apply for ROUND 1 Application. Request your guidance for my path to receive the elixir.
