Hi,

I was wondering if someone is fresh out of college, planning on applying to business school in 2-3 years, and also had a professor who could provide a good LOR, should the person request the LOR now (since the professor could provide the best/most accurate information) or should the person wait until shortly before applying?

What would be the best way of going about this?

Hi Top10 -

Thanks for your post - I dont think its a good idea. First of all, most top schools require recommenders to fill out a form and answer specific questions, so getting your professor to write a LOR now doesn't make sense.

What some of my clients have done in the past is to ask a professor for a general letter of recc now, and then when you apply in several years - ask the professor again, but use the old LOR as a reference point.
