Haas vs. Anderson

by bschoolprofile » Thu Jan 06, 2011 9:24 am
Hi experts,

Is there a significant difference in reputation/brand in these two programs? I would guess that they are both viewed very favorably and well known in California but I'm not sure how they compare nationally. Also, what are there specific strengths as programs?

Both are excellent schools and if you are planning to work in California both will have excellent networks. My bias would be slight (very slight) toward Haas if you are looking to work outside the state. You should think about the field you want to work in and check the course offerings. The schools have different personalities. If possible visit them and see which "feels" the best. You are going to spend a lot of money and two years on your education. It is best if you enjoy the environment.

As for programs, Haas rates slightly higher for entrepreneurship, international and not-for-profit programs. If you are leaning toward green or social responsibility programs check out both schools on beyondgreypinstripes.org.

If you are still deciding which school to apply to, recognize that no one is guaranteed acceptance at either school and you should strongly consider safety schools in addition to these highly competitive ones.

The good news is that you cannot make a bad decision. Either school will give you and outstanding education.

Good luck,
Tani Wolff
