In an effort to fight SPAM, I'm testing a new Akismet SPAM Filter MOD for this forum. Let me know whether you guys are experiencing any problems...

Okay, so Akismet MOD doesn't appear to be working yet. Doing some troubleshooting over the next few days...

Thanks for your patience!

I got some feedback from a moderator that one of her posts was blocked by the Akismet spam filter.

Still trying to figure out what had happened. Just as a heads up to the community, we suspect that it had something to do with the URLs she had included in her post.

Spam posts tend to have a lot of URLs listed in a single post, so keep that in mind when you are writing your own posts...

I heard one incident today that someone had a problem registering. Don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail if you encounter these problems!

Despite the problems here and there, I think that this SPAM filter is performing fairly well!

One more reminder. Please let me know if you're having problems with the SPAM filter. It's a little buggy, but so far very effective--however, it's important for me to know that it's not inhibiting your interaction with the community!

and what if I post a single internal link here

result: negative!
not even internal links are allowed...

I havent tested this on other forum areas...
but I think should give some greater access to Monitors since they would suggest other members some informative links... internal or external...

I wont be here to test this spam blocker ... but it seems that this idiot is not allowing me to post a single url... good that I am away ;)

Yeah, I'm working on creating exceptions for Monitors. This will take some time...

Update

by beatthegmat » Wed May 09, 2007 2:38 pm
Quick update:

I'm speaking to a developer friend about this. I think I have a solution that may allow certain users to post without going through the spam filter...

Thanks for your patience! :)

Another update:

I've turned off the SPAM filter temporarily. I've got a few ideas on how to improve this implementation...

Thanks for your patience. We might see some more SPAM over the next few days, but hang in there!
