hi everyone
i am quite new to this forum and joined it recently. i have a few questions to the experts. i am a dentist based in india and have done my masters in dentistry about 3 yrs back. i started preparing for GMAT in june 2012, and have written it twice already. first was on sep 15 and my score was 640. then after two months of sheer hard work, i wrote it again n scored a dismal 650 today. i am very disappointed and want to know whether i stand any chance with this score or should i prepare for GMAT once more. please do send in your reviews. also what score would b ideal for a person like me who is from a diverse background and i want to get in to a great b school like hbs or lbs.
looking forward to a reply from your end

Well good sir,
Although a 650 is not the top of the mountain, it is still a very good score. Not good enough, you are correct for a school like HBS, but why do you want to go to HBS? There are plenty of other schools (and excellent ones at that) out there. Maybe, we should take a step back and think about your goals:
Why are you applying to an MBA? what do you want to get out of it? What are your professional goals?

Then, a bit more about your experience: How old are you? How many years have you worked? Do you have any business experience? Any volunteer work? Where did you graduate from? what were your grades?

Hi Manish,

Welcome to the forum.

Well 650 is a decent score to apply in b-schools. But really don't understand that why in HBS or LBS??? Are you looking for brand value or want to concentrate on your career post-MBA??? Well there are many b-schools whose avg. GMAT range falls between 580-720 like: Texas-Mays, Rice, Boston-Carrol, Terry, Urbana-Champaign,Smeal,Purdue-Krannert, Babson-Olin, Manchester, Warwick & City-Cass. There are many, but these are just few good schools in US & UK. You can try your chances in b-schools by clicking to the link https://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschool

Kindly let me know your wok exp, post-MBA career, short/long term goals to understand your profile in a much better way.

Feel free to post any other concerns you might have.

Best,
Yash
