OG11 Quant Diagnostic question 22

by neekoh » Sat May 31, 2008 11:44 pm
The answer for question 22 in the OG11 quantitative diagnostic on page 54/55 simplifies

2(2sqrt2/sqrt n) = 4(sqrt2/sqrt n) = 4(2/sqrt n)

how did sqrt 2 become 2? what am i missing here, or is this a mistake in the book?

clyinder is half full.(H is height),therefore H/2 is full.

Volume =pai* r^2*H=36
= pai*r^2*(9/2)=36
therefore, r=(8/pai)^1/2

now,dia of base= 2*r=2*((2^2 *2)/pai)^1/2 (8=2^2 * 2)
= 2*2(2/pai)^1/2
=4(2/pai)^1/2

I hope tis will suffice..
