Right Angled Triangles

by slumdog » Thu Sep 24, 2009 2:19 am
Is it true that if the 3 sides of a triangle satisfy the equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2 then the triangle has to be a right angled triangle?

yes,

If the three sides are a2 + b2 + c2, then it MUST be a right triangle.

Also remember that any 2 sides of a triangle MUST add up to MORE than the 3rd side.

thats what Pythagoras's theorem is

This is what the Pythagoras Theorem is that given a right angled triangle the equation
a^2+b^2=c^2 will be true.
And conversely, given the equation the triangle will be a right angled triangle.

Cheers,
Vivek
