If b greater than 120 percent of a. Is b greater than 70.

1) b-a=20

2) a> 70


This question is from www.takegmat.com .. actually we are confused between B or D, can anyone elaborate please??

is b>70

so is 1.2a>70 is a>58.33

b=a+20

a+20>1.2a

20>0.2a
100 > a

INSUF

St2)

a>70 Suf

so IMO B

IMO B

stmt 1:
b -a = 20.
b = a +20 This is similar to what the Q stem says if we assume a = 100.
so not very useful.


stmt 2:
a > 70.

So b > 120% of 70.
ie b > 84.
Therefore b > 70.
Sufficient.
