A square inscirber within a equilateral triangle, side of square has a length of 12 inchs what is the perimeter of the triangle?

A. 36
B. 36 square root of 3
C. 36 square root of 3 + 24
D. 24 square root of 3 +36
C. 72

Use the fact that a triangle with angles 30-60-90 has segments which are 1:sqrt(3):2

I get that part but I'm not sure where 12 fits in the 1:sqrt3:2

so what is one side of the equailateral triangle? I'm still having trouble because I get the wrong answer.

12:12sqrt3:24 so the longest part is 24 which is only part of the equailateral

the answer is D by the way....

thanks I get the concept now its very simple, I just could not figure out how to convert 12 into 1:sqrt3:2

if I used x*sqrt3=12 then all is clear

base = (12 + 2*12/sqrt3) since all sides are equal we time this by 3
