The question is asking: what is the value of x such that 0.12 * x is an integer...

I think the answer is E

0.12 = 3/25

which means the remainder should be a multiple of 3 and the only ans choice that fulfills this condition is E

.12 = 3/25. None of the answers are integers when multiplied by 3/25.

Where exactly is this question from? I can't find it in the OG (11th ed).

Given: s/t=64.12

we can write this as 6412/100
or 1603/25 (divide numerator and denominator by 4)


't' is a positive integer, so it has to be 25 or a multiple of 25.
similarly, 's' has to 1603 or its multiple.

The remainder of 1603/25 is 3. So, for any other multiple of 1603/25, the remainder will be a multiple of 3.

From the given choices, only E is divisible by 3. Thus, E is the answer.
