Profile Evaluation Please!

by ale_fg » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:25 pm
Hi Cindy,

I was wondering if you could evaluate my profile. I want to apply to HBS, Columbia, NYU Stern, and Kellogg, what are my chances of getting in.
I'm 24 years old, female from Mexico.
I studied Industrial Engineering in a Top Tier Mexican University (Tec de Monterrey) and Graduated Dec 2008 with a GPA or 3.5. I did a semester abroad in Italy as well as a six month full-time Internship in Italy.
I've been working for 2 years now in a Multinational Consumer Products company, I am a Financial Planning Analyst for the main brand of the company in Mexico, and I am part of the company's Talent Development program. I'm sure I can get great recommendations form my current and past supervisors.

I have 690 on the GMAT (Q48, V35).

I was president of the Student Council in college for a year, and Treasurer of the Council for another year.

Extracurriculars:
I am part of the Diverity Commitee in the Company I work in.

I have been a godparent in a Local organization that helps children in extreme poverty and with nutrition problems for a year now.

Hello,

From the information you've provided, overall I would consider you a viable and qualified applicant to the programs you mention. While your GMAT is a tad low for some including HBS and Columbia, your other qualifications appear quite strong - strong enough to mitigate the GMAT. Moreover, your undergrad course provided a rigorous analytic and quantitative background, which is important. You didn't mention your goals, which are a critical component of your candidacy.

Being qualified for programs of this level is only the first step - plan to devote significant time and effort to preparing outstanding applications that will truly showcase your strengths and distinguish you from other qualified applicants.

Best regards,
