I'm not sure that this explanation is correct. Here is my explanation (but I'm no expertroopachet wrote:if i am not wrong LCM of two numbers for example 2 and 3 is nothing but 2 multiplied by 3 that is 6. similarly x/y multiplied by 1/3 = 6 so x=18 y you still do not get the answer and hence E the answer.

The LCD is 6, which means 6 is a multiple of y AND 3. Y could either be 2 or 6. Since there are two possible values for y, statement I is not sufficient to uniquely determine y.
