Profile evaluation and advice.

Hi all,

GMAT score – 740 (V-42, Q-49)
AWA Score – 5
Graduation - 66%

International student.

Work ex – 3 years as of today in a IT services company. Recruited straight from College.

Planning to apply for class starting 2010.

I always thought that I would know what to do once I wrote my GMAT, but right now I don’t know what to do or where to go.

I would really appreciate it if someone could answer some questions I have.

1) Based on my score and academic background what kind of a chance do I have in enrolling in the top 10-12 US colleges?

2) Harvard is my dream college. :-) . Do I have a realistic chance of getting through?

3) How do I decide on a MBA specialization? Is there a exhaustive (even abridged) list of the possibilities ?

4) Is my GMAT score good ?

5) Any other tips and/or suggestions ?

My biggest tip is really a question. What do you want to do after your MBA? If you can answer that questions, #3 becomes very easy to answer.

NOw to your questions:

1) You have a chance in the greater top 10, although your percentage is a little on the low side, provided you can show leadership and initiative. Realize, that in admissions to top US schools is not based solely on test scores and grades, although those are important. Admission is also based on character, fit, and the evaluation that you are going to add a distinctive dimension to your class. Please see:

2. Unless you have truly stellar leadership experiences, HBS is a big stretch and unlikely acceptance.
3. BAsed on your goal.
4. Yes.
5. Please see my first comment.

Best,
Linda
