profile advice

by spartigrl » Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:49 am
Hi Stacy,

I am 25 and have three years professional experience. My recommendations come from top elected officials (they were my direct supervisors). I got a 700 on the GMAT with a verbal score in the 92 percentile and a quant score in the 74 percentile. Unfortunately, my AWA score was a 4.5. My GPA is a 3.6 from a top five liberal arts college. I'm actually a pretty good writer -- just submitted a poorly considered essay argument.

I'd like to to go to a top 15 b-school. What do you think?

Thanks!

Dear spartigirl,

I think a top 15 is within reach for you if you submit a strong application. You have competitive numbers (GMAT/GPA), so it comes down to how well you convey your rationale for business school in relation to your past experience and future career goals. Your essays, recommendations and interviews will be critical, so use them wisely to make your case for admission.

Good luck,
Lisa
