Doubt in SC

Since the new Government came into power, the economy has been centralized, causing poor agricultural production in country A.

A) Since the new Government came into power, the economy has been centralized, causing poor agricultural production in country A.
B) In country A, there is poor agricultural production, since the new government had come into power and had centralized the economy.
C) There have been poor agricultural production because of the new government that centralized the economy in country A.
D) Poor agricultural production caused by the centralized economy since the new governemnt introduced it when it came into power.
E) THe centralized economy of the new government of the country A has caused poor agricultural production.

Answer is A. Can come one please explain me why not E?

E is incorrect because it suggests that the centralized economy belongs to the new government and not to country A. Additionally, it lacks the info that the government centralized the economy.

Hi Poster. I think you have got the correct answer. This is a classical example to prove that brevity is also a sin. although E seems to offer the same information but on a deeper look its entirely changing the meaning.

choice is also doesn't support the use of Has. the use of present perfect should be done very carefully.
Either ... economy ......caused poor agricultural production
... economy..... may cause.........
.... economy.... is causing....
( these are all correct forms however we prefer to keep it simpler) also why A is preferred is because of the Cause effect relationship.

this is certainly wrong too , for it uses past tense incorrectly . it should be "Since the new goverment has come into power" ..

what is the source ?

I don't think A is grammatically wrong.

Here we are describing two events.
1. Government came into power
2. Economy is centralized since then.
we are correctly describing two events - one happened in past, and the next started in the past, but continues in present.

1 cannot be in a perfect tense, because Govt. came into power in past.
We can use present perfect which indicates an event started in past, but continues in present.

Govt. is in power/ or Govt. has been in power = this can be correct.

Economy has been centralized = this is correct, as this started in past(when the Govt. came into power) and continues in present.

Just wanna add,

The sentence starting with since, you can trust, always follow present perfect tense...
