Problems with SC

by sukhavasi_prasanth » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:26 pm
I have been preparing for gmat since a month, the major problem for me is the sentence correction part, I read MG and Aristotle SC books but still not able to nail the SC questions, please suggest me alternative books or strategies for the SC section

There are no alternatives to MGMAT SC as far as GMAT SC is concerned. But MGMAT SC assumes that one is much comfortable with the basic structure of English - and so leave many things unsaid for the readers to comprehend and analyze. So right now as an alternatives, you can refer some general grammar books. That will be helpful.

I am not much aware of Aristotle SC, so couldn't comment on it.

Hope this helps !!

Well I can understand your problem. Agreed that MGMAT is the best for SC but that does not mean that it is the only source for the preparation...

That is not the end of the world... There are other sources as well... Remember Mgmat gives the tricks but the application is important... even if you know the tricks and notes but if you cannot apply them then it is pointless... GMAT tests application not theory...

I think you can go for the e-gmat SC course. Costs way too less then other sources especially MGMAT, and will give you a better picture as to how to apply the notes or the tricks.

Also Sahil's and Spidey's notes are also good but they are again notes and tricks, not the application...

The correct way of studying is not the correct answer only...

It is the approach...

WHy option A is wrong, why B is wrong, etc etc...

the overall analysis of the sentence is required and you will understand that what is the sentence testing and why are the options going wrong...

GMAT is not about only the right answer, it is much more than that... Learn to reason and question each and every option...

That is the correct method..

Hope this post really helps you dude...
