SC laws for GMAT

by vishal.pathak » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:35 pm
Hi Guys,

I am really confused. Every new question on this forum comes with a new grammar law. Is there a good book to learn the basics. A book which lists most of the laws mentioned on this forum. I have gone through Manhattan's SC guide and it was helpful but it is certainly not sufficient.

Any help will be appreciated

Regards,
Vishal

Vishal,
Here in this forum, students generally post hard questions for which they seek some experts help. Obviously these questions tend to be hard for anyone. I suggest you either bookmark or take a notes of every new grammar rule when you come across. MGMAT SC 4th Edition is a great book. It's not that easy to understand each rule of that book and apply on SC questions right after reading the book. Most students keep revising the rules in the book to memorize them. Also learn how common errors are placed in wrong answer choices to trap students.
Hope it helps

In my GmatPrep history, I have not yet come across any SC book that is better than MGMAT SC 4th Edition.
However, I would name Aristotle SC grail after Mgmat SC book. But again, this is book is subset of Mgmat SC.
SC grail may be good for a non-native Gmat beginner, but it won't improve SC accuracy significantly.
Even I struggled with 60% accuracy for many days without knowing what to do and which book to read.

I did the following to improve my SC accuracy from 60% to 80%(may be more)
1) Revised Mgmat SC 4th eidition over repeatedly and remembered almost all SC rules of MGMAT SC 4th Edition
2) Solved all OG12 SC questions
3) Searched the questions I got wrong in BTG, MGMAT forums; made notes every time I came across any new point/rule
4)Following experts in this forum (Ron Purewal(lunarpower), Mitch, Brain, Vivian, Stuart etc.)
5) Reading their explanations; making notes
