Line l contains the points (3, 1) and (4, 4).

If line m is a different line, parallel to line l in the same coordinate plane, which of the following could be the equation of line m?
A. y = 3 x - 8
B. y = 1/3 x - 3
C. y = -3 x - 8
D. y = 3 x + 1

slope of l is 4-1/4-3 = 3
Answer should be between A and D

eqtn of l is y-4 /3 = x-4/1
y-4 = 3x-12
y=3x-8

this is the same as A
but m is a different line.
hence pick D

Slope of l and m are equal

Slope of l=3

Option A and D

A

y=3x-8

If we sub l coordinates,the equation is satisfied.It means m passes through l.

But l and m are different.

So option D
