A person buys some Apples and Mangoes from the market. Cost price of a Mango is twice that of an Apple and the selling price is thrice that of an Apple. The selling price of apple is twice the cost price of apple and he makes the profit of 150 % on the whole. What is the ratio of number of mangoes to the number of apples ?

Cost Price of apple be X
Then, cost price of mango = 2X
Selling price of apple = 2X
Selling price of mango = 6X

We require to find the combination of mangoes and apples when the profit is 150% or in other words, when selling price is 2.5 times the cost price.

When ratio is 1:1, we get, cost price = 3X and selling price =8X. Here selling price is just exceeding the cost price from the desired 2.5 ratio. So, we need to increase the number of apples to get the desired ratio.

Let us first try 2 apples and 1 mango combination.

With two apples and one mango, cost price becomes 4X and selling price becomes 10X.

Here, selling price is 2.5 times the cost price. So, this is the desired ratio.
