In a certain school, there are 600 boys and 400 girls. If 20 percent of the boys and 30 percent of the girls are on the honor roll, how many of the students are on the honor roll?

* 120
* 175
* 240
* 250
* 280

im thinking C?

20% of the boys means one fifth of the boys, giving us 120 boys on the honor roll. 30% of the girls is 3/10*400 = 120 girls on the honor roll. This means that 120 + 120 = 240 kids are on the honor roll.

It's so easy question, I think.
ANS 240

20% of 600 = 120
30% of 400 = 120
so 120 + 120 = 240 kids
