What is the volume of a rectangular solid, if it has diagonal equal to 9 ?

st(1) length of a rectangular solid is the same as its width and equals 4

st(2) height of a rectangular solid equals 7

V = lwh

1)l=w=4 . using Pythagorean theorem, we can find h (81-w^2=81-32=49 h=7) suff

2) not suff, since we do not know whether l=w

(1) 9 = √(4² + 4² + h²)
81 = 32 + h²
h = 7
Since we know l, w, h, we can find the volume; SUFFICIENT.

(2) 9 = √(l² + w² + 7²)
We cannot find l and w from the above equation; NOT sufficient.

The correct answer is A.
