Which of the following inequalities when mapped on a number line is a single line of finite length?

a. x^4 => 1
b. x^3 <= 27
c. x^2 => 16
d. 2 <= |x| <= 5
e. 2 <= 3x+4 <=6

Pl explain in detail.

E is the only linear equation in the choices.

Quadratic, cubic or any higher powered eq. will take different forms when plotted.

D is also linear, but it takes only absolute values (+ve values) Hence it would form a V shaped figure when plotted.

A x>=1 or x<= -1. Both cases give infinite solutions
B x <= 3. Infinite solutions
C x >=4 or x<= -4. Infinite solutions
D 2<=x<=5 or -2>=x>=-5. Gives us 2 sets of solutions
E -2/3<=x<=2/3 . Length here is 2/3-(-2/3) = 4/3
