149 ppl were aboard Flight 222 whn it arrived at LA from NY city with Chicago as the only intermediate stop. How many pp 1st boarded the flight in Chicago?
1)170 ppl were aboard the flight when it left NY city.
2)23 ppl from the flight deplaned in chicago and did not reboard.

AO- C ..... Why can't it be E??????

Aboard at LA = (Aboard at NY) - (deplaned at Chicago) + (1st Boarding at Chicago);

149 = 170 - 23 + 1st Boarding at Chicago;

1st Boarding at Chicago = 2. ans C.

Obviously S1 is not sufficient

S2 also does no specify how many boarded Chicago but the combination facilitates the solution of eqn 170-23+x = 149, where x is no of passengers who boarded Chicago.

Consider 149 as total passengers
1) remaining passengers from Ny
2) plus first boarded at chicago.

S 1: does not tell us how many remaining at Chicago from NyC. Insufficient
S2: tell us The remaining passenger at chicago from NYC, but not mention passengers first boarded at Chicago. Insufficient

S1+s2

170-23= remaining passengers from NYC=157
157-149= first board at Chicago

C is the answer
