Out of 32 pages, the charges for the first 4 pages would be $4. Thus, an additional 32 – 4 = 28 pages are left to be charged at a rate of 50 cents; however, we know that every 11th page is not charged, so 11th and 22nd page will not be charged.

So, total charge = 4 + (32 – 4 – 2)*0.50 = $17

The correct answer: C

Hope this helps!

Solution:

Since page 11 and page 22 are free, he will charge only for 30 of the 32 pages. For 4 of these 30 pages, he will charge a total of $4 and for the remaining 26 pages, he will charge $0.50 per page. Therefore, he will charge a total of 4 + 0.50 x 26 = 4 + 13 = $17 for the 32-page script.
