Getting started - advice needed!

by flexed » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:34 am
Hi all,

So I started studying for my GMAT's about two months ago, I bought the most recent Manhattan books (all 8) and OG books (all 3) as well. I've got all the time in the world to study as I'm currently not working, but I've been finding it difficult to get through the study materials. I managed to go through only the first 3/4's of the first Manhattan math book, did all the questions in the book and in the OG that corresponded to that book, and it took me nearly a month. After being a bit demotivated because of how long it took, I took a month off studying and now am determined to get back to it.

Is there any advice anyone can give me to speed up my studying? I've read that people generally finish their studying (esp if they're not working at the same time) within 2 months TOTAL. :S

And should I be making notes from my MGMAT books as I go through them? Like a coles-notes version of the chapters? I started doing it but realized it took a lot of time so I stopped.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has any experiences as well on how they finished within 2 months, that'd be wonderful. Thanks all!

2 months? hmmm...I would recommend 3. I think one key is repeition. Just learning the info isn't enough, you need the extra time to really get a lot of reps in to make sure you fully understand the material from all angles.
