Using OG to estimate what score you'll get on the day

Dear all,

New to the forum - would first like to thank all the experts here for dedicating time and effort in helping candidates.

I wanted to hear some thoughts about using the OG to get a rough idea of one's current standing. Using myself as an example, I've just completed my first round of all OG questions. First take Apr 18, 2nd take June 1st.

Results:

PS - 60%
DS - 61%
CR - 69%
RC - 73%
SC - 60%

I would like to know what the guru's think about my current scores in terms of relating them to a rough GMAT score and what my strategy should be for my first and second takes.

Current study materials: OG, Manhattan books x2 (fractions decimals %, sentance correction)
Target score: 710
Time remaining: 15 complete days (annual leave) to first take, 30+ complete days (overtime leave) to second take

Pls dont use the OG to gauge your score..rather use it to learn from the incorrect ones,also try review the correct ones and find out why the correct option is correct and why the incorrect options are wrong. Learn from each OG question. Try to nail the GMAT in one attempt with proper preparation.

To get the rough estimate of your score use the GMATPrep diagnostic tests. you can download them from MBA.com

Another important tip: Dont skip the AWA while taking the full length tests.. 100m sprint(without AWA) vs Marathon (taking AWA + Quant + verbal)

Reviewing and redoing will improve your accuracy and what you learn from each question. Practicing more and more questions and not learning from them(by not reviewing) will not improve your knowledge or accuracy.

GMAT doesnt test knowledge alone, it tests knowledge + Test taking skills + Time management skills.
These qualities can be obtained thro' "Proper Preparation"

Thanks for the tips Kolaveri - definitely agree now that I have done my first GMATPrep mock (that software downloaded from mba.com) and got 480.

Time management was way off, dived into the first 10 questions without actually thinking about it etc it was a nightmare. I did the full deal including the AWA and by the time verbal came I was really exhausted and I rushed through the questions with 10 mins + to spare.

Aiming to get 700+, trying to get a strategy for the next 2 months given that I've got 2 takes left.

Any suggestions and ideas would be more than welcome!

First of all, i'd like to thank everyone who has provided me with info throughout my course of studying for the GMAT. I recently took it this past week and got a 700. 46 quantitative, 40 verbal, 5.5 AWA.

Throughout my studying, I found Manhattan GMAT to be the most helpful across the board. Many ppl say that the Quant is more difficult and the verbal is easier. While i agree with this claim, the scores are adjusted for this. In addition, the answer explanations they provide surpasses every other guide. Ironically, I did better on verbal and worse on Quant then my practice tests. However, if you have enough time, I strongly suggest you go through MGMATS guide. They are very specific and detailed in each type of problem and topic. Once you have mastered MGMAT's quant section, the real GMAT will be a joke.

I took GMAT Prep practice tests from MBA.com and scored 650 on those (I took them somewhat prematurely in the course of my study so they might not have been so accurate of my real score). However, the question types are almost identical to the real deal. I never wrote a practice essay because I honestly didn't think theres a reason for that. It would have been a waste of precious time. The night before my test, i googled some templates that people use and stuck with a similar idea for my essays (which i scored a 5.5).

i know this wasnt so detailed, i just wanted tot hank everyone who has provided me with help and feedback throughout the past few months and I would be glad to provide some helps and tips to others who are in the course of their own studying.
