Preparation for MBA Tour Fairs??

I registered to attend QS World Tour, one of those fairs featuring many MBA Programs from various B-schools. Other than dressing business casual and coming up with a list of questions, I'm not sure what else I need to do or bring. For instance, do I need to bring my resume like what I would do for a job fair? My impression is these fairs are advertisement campaigns for the various programs, so I'm not so sure what a resume would do at this point in the application process.

Other than getting info from the schools, I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do. Any advise would be great.

I will definitely be watching this thread! I myself am attending the QS MBA Tour on October 2nd here in Houston. I would like advice on what is the best way to utilize your time with recruiters. Also, what type of attire should I wear? Would business casual clothing be okay, or do I need to wear a suit??? Sort of confused, and hoping to get some answers from some of the experts!

I think these tours are more for the schools to sell themselves to you, but you need to know the right questions to ask. It also depends where you are in the application process. Are you thinking about matriculating in 2011 or 2012. There are different ways to approach each. No need to bring your resume, but bring a notebook/folder for notes and a bag. I'm sure they'll give you a bag or something to hold everything in but bring one just in case.

I won't say whether you should wear a suit or not, but I'll say that most people will be in suits. ;-) Other than getting info from the schools I would suggest being friendly and open to other attendees and become friends with them. You will be running into one another at various events throughout the year and it's always good when you have someone to speak to at the events rather than being a wall flower.

Hope this helps. I've been to many events, so you can ask more questions if you'd like. This is something I do feel that I can shed a lot of light on.

Well if you're applying for 2011 then you should definitely have a game plan set up. Research the schools you wish to apply too and then make sure that you get your questions answered by the representatives. Do not ask them the stock questions about GMAT scores and Essays. Research the essay questions prior to going and start thinking about what you want to write about and find out what the school needs.

If you were applying for 2012, then you could just go to all the tables and talk to the reps to see what their programs are about. They're all going to say that they value leadership and teamwork and blah blah blah give me a break. Tell me something I don't know.

I am interested in learning more about this too as some tours prepare to come to my city. If you are applying for Fall 2011, what type of questions would be considered the "right" questions? If you asked questions about specializations and student life would reps think you didn't do your research if they are listed on their website. Are these the kind of questions to avoid? What is an example of a good MBA tour game plan? Also, if you are attending a MBA session for a particular school, is it advised that you reach out to the rep after the presentation? I am assuming there will be a Q&A session included in the presentation.
