Help in understanding my Manhattan GMAT score?

Hi, I took the free manhattan gmat test and scored a 540. Talk about a let down!

I have found on this forum that manhattan gmat questions, in regard to the books, are more difficult than the actual gmat questions.

Is this also true for the free gmat? Can I reasonably assume that I would score slightly higher on the GMAT or is the Manhattan free gmat test a good indicator of the actual GMAT? If not, how should I interpret it?

I found myself staring at some of the problems and just guessing. Many seemed foreign to what the OG questions looked liked.

No test prep company has a test scoring algorithm that perfectly mimics the actual GMAT. That being said I have heard only anecdotally that MGMAT does produce tests that appear slightly harder than the actual GMAT (a good thing too).

I think that the best way to calibrate your actual performance is to take a GMATPrep exam. GMATPrep is produced by the makers of the GMAT and featured real but retired questions. It's the best resource you have to benchmark yourself.
