720 (48Q, 42V) but weak IR (5). Does that matter?

Pretty happy with my 94th percentile performance. I had time leftover on Quant and found it way easier than I expected, whereas on Verbal I was pressed for time and guessed a lot. I've always been way stronger with Verbal, though, so I guess the score makes sense.

I have been under the impression that IR isn't that important, so I didn't put much effort in and the score shows it. I think my AWA was pretty strong, though. Will a mediocre IR score hurt me much on apps?

In my opinion, a 5 on the IR is an good score. Since, you have an excellent score on the GMAT, you won't face any issues while applying to top B schools, since your quant score can very much compensate for that.

Are you planning to apply for Fall 2014 or later?

Here's food for thought - Would you retake the GMAT to increase your IR?

In short, for admissions it doesnt since none of the admissions committees dont look into it. I have been hearing that some consulting firms, e.g. Bain look for IR but that again is a rumor and even if true is too far off in the land of possibilities to worry about now. Like someone else said earlier, you wouldnt retake your GMAT for IR, right!
