If the terms of a series are either "2" or "24" and the sum of all the terms of the series is 124, then which of the following could be the number of "2's" in the series?

A. 48

B. 35

C. 38

D. 28

E. 26

The maximum number of 24's that we can have in a sum of 124 is 5. So there must be a minimum of two 2's. Now every 24 can be replaced with 12 2's. So the number of 2's always must be 2 more than a multiple of 12.

In the given options we have 26 as well as 38.
