Correct answer seems to be E.

A. bears; they overturn rocks to find them and consuming
as many as.
---- Them is ambiguous referring to bears.
B. bears; overturning rocks to find the insects, consuming
up to
----This looks correct but I believe that "up to" is changing the meaning of "as many as". Also, if ther is a ";" given then in next clause, we should have "and" instead of a ",".
C. bears, overturning rocks to find them and they consume
as many as.
----"Them is ambiguous"
D. bears, and they overturn rocks to find them and consume
up to
----"Them is ambiguous"
E. bears, which overturn rocks to find the insects, consuming
as many as.
-----This clearly specifies insects and use of "," is also correct here.

C. bears, overturning rocks to find them and they consume

D. bears, and they overturn rocks to find them and consume
up to
E. bears, which overturn rocks to find the insects, consuming
as many as.
Answer:

The analogy:
1. I cannot see me in the mirror.
I can see myself in the mirror.

Now, analyze the sentence:

A. "They" has only one possible reference "bears". So, the sentence reads "bears overturn rocks to find them". The reason for which "I cannot see me in the mirror" is incorrect "bears overturn rocks to find them" is also incorrect for the that reason.

B. "Semicolon (;) + Verbing" is NOT correct.

C. "and they consume" is an independent clause, and it has been joined only by and. Thus it makes the sentence "RUN ON"-joining two independent clauses with AND only.
D. Is wrong for the same reason as it is in A.

E. Answer is E.
