Guys Please, I need advice

by jamesbrown » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:28 am
I took the free Kaplan and MGMAT online CAT test and got a 510 and 460. I can say this is my highest score ever. I really want to take the GMAT and get it over with because I have been studying for it since November 2009. My test is on April 5th and I need to apply to Ohio State Part time MBA. Average GMAT score is 530. What do I need to do, just to score over 530 or a 550.

I am getting frustrated day by day, and I ended up using all the frustration on my wife like getting mad for no reason. I'm tired, I'm in a point that I don't want to study anymore or maybe go get my MBA from a school that doesn't require a GMAT score.

What do you guys think I should do.

Please, help. I am planning on taking GMAT PREP today or tomorrow to know where i stand.

Thanks for you help or advice.

Cliff

I would recommend taking about 3-4 days off. Maybe take off Thursday through Sunday. Take your wife out and show her a good time. Let her know that it was just the frustration of the test and that you really value you her. Having good support at home will help you study. After the 4 day break. Hit it hard until the week before the test. Don't take more than a CAT a week, mainly use it for pacing. You should peak by test day. Good luck.

My test is on the 5th of April. What do you think I should do? Should I take a sample kaplan CAT this weekend or next weekend?

Thanks.

You've not mentioned Official Guide as part of your resources. For GMAT, you need to work more with official guides and CATs.

As you have scheduled on 5th of April, i would suggest you to practice more with GMATPrep. It is not advisable to take other prep companies CATs at this point of time. At the same time, brush over math basics and verbal strategies again (not sure whether you have done that during your preparation). Knowing the concepts cold really helps you in the test day.

I am currently using og11 and 12. But, it seems like the maths on the GMATPREP looks kind of different from what I saw on Kaplan and MGMAT test. I will be studying the og12 this weekend. And, I'll stick to it. And, I'll probably take a GMATPREP test next weekend. I have studied way too long for this test and I don't know if it's going to help if I reschedule. What do you think?

Thank you

OG 12 and GMATPrep are the most closest to actual test. Your decision of sticking with OG12 and GMATPrep is a highly recommended one. When you take the GMATPrep next time, take AWA's along with math and verbal. This helps you know your mental stamina. You need to mimic test center conditions whenever you take the practice test.
