The total cost of a car rental at Company X is equal to a base fee per day plus a charge of $0.30 per mile. What was the cost of Peter's rental from Company X?

(1) Peter drove a total of 25 miles.

(2) The base fee per day for a car from Company X is $50.00.

The OA is E.

I am a little confused here. Why both statements are not sufficient? I don't understand. Experts, may you help me?

Not an expert, but this is a simple trick question. My assumption is you answered C and got it wrong - here's why - the prompts give you enough information to think C is the answer, but the key piece of information missing is how many days did Peter rent the car for?. No where is this answered; hence, you cannot determine that the cost of the rental is $50.00 + 25*$0.30 because if Peter rented the car for 10 days, the cost will be different than if he rented it for 2 days or just 1 day.
