Hi,

I've been studying to the GMAT on my own for the past month or so. Yesterday I took the first test just to see where I was and I got this question:
In Hungary, as in much of Eastern Europe, an overwhelming proportion of women work, many of which are in middle management and light industry.
The correct answer choice beings with as but I thought it had to start with like as I was taught that like is used to compare nouns and as is for verbs. But what is the rule about prepositions (in)?

Can anyone help with this issue? :?

hi eric, what we are comparing here is not hungary with eastern europe, but a process, i mean to say an action that a particular proportion of women who work. also note that it might be tempting to comapre proportions here but that is not the case. :D
