When 1,000 children were inoculated with a certain vaccine, some developed inflammation at the site of the inoculation and some developed fever. How many of the children developed inflammation but no fever?

1) 880 children developed neither inflammation nor fever.
2) 20 children developed fever.

Neither statement could be sufficient alone. Statement 1 tells us that 120 children had inflammation, fever, or both. Statement 2 tells us that 20 of these children had fever, so the rest, or 100 children, did not have fever. But those children must all have had inflammation and no fever, so the answer is 100, and using both Statements we can answer the question.
