The correct answer to this question is indeed C, because it demonstrates correct parallelism, and the correct coordinating conjunction.

With respect to parallelism, the sentence states that the traders do X, but that they not do Y. Only answers C and D have "that" in the answer, so it is safe to eliminate A, B and E.

With respect to the correct coordinating conjunction, answer C contains "but," and answer D contains "and." At first glance, these two conjunctions seem to do the same thing, joining the two parts of the sentence. However, "but" and "and" do not convey the exact same meaning. "But" works better in the sentence because it contrasts the suggestion in the first part of the sentence with the suggestion in the second part of the sentence.

The analyst suggests that the traders DO something (pay attention to M2), but that they NOT stop doing something else (continue to not ignore standard indicators).
