Disappointed with Verbal

by sasi78 » Sat May 23, 2009 12:55 am
Hello,

I need this forum help to diagnose what could have gone wrong with my verbal score.

I wrote my GMAT exam on 13th May 09 and got score of 580 - much less than the minimum score from my prep tests. I consistently scored between 690 and 740 in Gmatprep tests, with verbal scores ranging from 35-42. Hence, I was very confident that I would hit around 690 score at minimum.

But the shock came after I clicked "proceed to score" in the actual test. I scored 580 with 48 in math and 21 (so poor) in verbal. I couldn't believe myself with this verbal score, as even without any preparation, one could have got this score.

I feel that my performance in the actual test was as good as my previous prep test performances. But still I scored the rock bottom in verbal. can you please help me, based on your experience, what could have gone wrong in the actual exam, leading to this poor score in verbal.

Just download 1000 SC, CR, and RC and get the answers (SC is separate, the others are included)

Doesn't have explanations but if you keep doing them, you're gonna get the pattern. Verbal is not like math.

If you want answers buy OG10 and OG12. I bet you can probably download those too off Esnips.

DONT FORGET:

1) There is luck factor on test. A lot of people do not like to believe this, but ITS TRUE.

2) You probably messed up on beginning questions. Be sure to focus on beginning and end, they are the most important for some stupid reason. If you are going to guess on certain ones, you are best served by guessing the ones in the middle.

3) If I had to bet, I would say you would get at least mid 650s if you took the test tomorrow.

DONT GIVE UP AND WORK HARD

Thanks skang357 and Mike22629 for your response.

I haven't taken the 1000 SC &CRs fully, only 1st 200s I took. I think I should seriously work on them to get the concepts accurate.

And I started believing that I didn't have enough luck on that day, because my worst score from preptest itself is much higher than the actual score.

Thanks again!!.
