OA is C.

DO we have to use a verb after than in cases like above?

Also..... pronoun "they" has to be replaced with "children" for clarity.

"they" in the original sentence brings in ambiguity as it may refer to either children or linguists.

Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate the usage of verb or 'do'' after 'than'. Is it always necessary to have a verb after than?

The mistakes children make in learning to speak AND the correct forms they use are parallel

and DO is necessary here to compare these two parallel structures.

I am not sure whether we have to replace THEIR with children because even tough it seems like it might create an ambiguity, it is clear that it refers children.

If this is a MORE X THAN Y construction, howcome X and Y are parallel ?

tell linguistics more X than Y

Tell is on the other side of the parallelism. Somebody please clarify this.
