Why does dearly change the meaning of hte statement?
"dearly" is an adverb. Therefore, I believe it cannot be used here. Since we're modifying his homeland, it is more appropriate to use the adjective "dear".

Is it always required to repeat "to" achieve parallelism?
I have read in MGMAT SC that you don't need to repeat "to".

if thats the case why is A wrong. If not what is condition where "to" needs to be repeated?

Can some one please explain.

I read in another post that the gerund form (converting and removing) needs to be used here because "setting" is used in the sentence. But he didn't seem too confident in his explanation.

how to differentiate b/w adverb and adjective?

Adjectives modify NOUN and PRONOUN
Adverb modify adjectives, verb, etc
For most words when you add an -ly the word becomes an adverb
smart ---adjective
smartly--adverb
Refer Manhattan SC...Its well explained

The sentence checks for parallelism .

There are two things that Krishna Menon wants to do :

1. convert one of Minicoy's islands into a pre-historic nature sanctuary
2. remove all traces of man ever setting foot there.

These two things need to set up in parallel

Ex :
to convert one of Minicoy's islands into a pre-historic nature sanctuary AND to remove all traces of man ever setting foot there.

OR

converting one of Minicoy's islands into a pre-historic nature sanctuary AND removing all traces of man ever setting foot there.


Since A fails to maintain parallelism A is incorrect , C is correct answer.

b'coz in case of A , TO is there in default before REMOVE. Hence that is not an error.


whenever there is a tie b/w infinitive (TO verb Form) and ING forms (perhaps called present participle :) ) then Infinitive is given preference.


So A carry more waightage over C .

But still wud like to hear opinion 4m u Guys...
